After I received my M.Ed. from the University of Florida (hence the name "HappyEdugator"), I began teaching in elementary school, where I taught pull-out remedial classes for grades 2-5 and a section of K-1. Then I taught Pre-K for 5 years, before I went up to Middle School, where I have been in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. Last year, I went back to 1st grade in a private setting. I have traveled worldwide and am also fluent in Spanish.

Fairy Tales Reading Activity. Elements Chart. Students read 5 fairy tales out of the fifteen suggested choices and mark with an x the elements and characteristics of fairy tales they find in their stories. Endangered Animal Brochure Project with Rubric - The White Giraffe. Also includes research report assignment and rubric. Students must take on the role of an endangered African animal protection activist. Student task is to create a brochure for the public to inform them of the dire need to preserve the species that he or she chose to advocate. The brochure must persuade others of the importance of their animal, and the urgent need to preserve it for the future. Includes student handout and 100 points rubric. Left in editable format so you may modify for your classroom needs. May be used as a supplemental extension activity when reading The White Giraffe by Lauren St. John, or may be adapted for science or a research unit. (Just remove novel name) Includes a template for the students to use to make their brochures and an endangered species list. Ten activities to do with building brick blocks. Use the games individually on separate occasions, or make stations with them and have an event. Print out the cards and use to mark each station. Christmas Similes Activity. A fun printable Christmas activity handout to help your students create some simple Christmas similes. Your students, after reading the example, should be able to fill in the blanks with their own Christmas similes, and even make up a few of their own. Great winter fun. Also fun to do after watching the scene in the movie "A Christmas Carol" when the party-goers play the game "Similes." Also includes simile cards. Print out on cardstock, and cut out.
